A graduate in civil engineering from Manipal University, George Jacob Muthoot is the Chairman of the Group. He steers the operations of the Group by working closely with key personnel and by introducing contemporary protocols and continually raising the bar for personalised services. Presently, he is the member of the Trivandrum Management Association, Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (Trivandrum), Trivandrum Agenda Task Force, Rotary Club (Trivandrum), governing body member of the Charitable and Educational Society of Trivandrum Orthodox Diocese (Trivandrum), Finance Committee Member, Mar Dioseorus College of Pharmacy (Althara, Trivandrum) and Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Mercy Fellowship (Trivandrum).

As Managing Director of the Group, George Alexander Muthoot oversees the planning, designing and funding of new projects, with a view to directing the Group towards the optimum utilisation of resources and funds. His inputs are central to the structure and has aided in the financial inclusion of giving gold loans to the masses, especially the economically weaker sections of society and the lower middle classes living in rural and semi-urban areas. A chartered accountant with a first rank in Kerala and 20th rank in India, George Alexander Muthoot also holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Kerala University where he was a rank holder and gold medalist. He has been conferred with the Business Excellence Award by Times of India in March 2009. Presently, he is the Vice Chairman of Non-Banking Finance Companies Welfare Association, President of the Association of Gold Loan companies (AGLOC) - India, Managing Committee Member of the Equipment Leasing Association (Chennai), Founder and Core Committee member of The Indus Entrepreneurs International (Kochi Chapter) and CII National Committee member for Entrepreneurship & NBFC.

A banker with over 30 years of experience in managing business operations in the field of financial services, George Thomas Muthoot’s insights have played a pivotal role in the Group’s dramatic growth and profitability. As the Joint Managing Director and full-time Director of the Company, he brings to the table vast experience and expertise in managing and operating businesses in the field of financial services. Presently he is the member of Rotary International and a lifetime member of YMCA.
